HISTORY

LATE 1960s

Maria Soffritti was only 16 years old when she started out as a shirt-maker in Bologna. Her curiosity and eagerness to learn led her to work in the leather processing industry before joining a knitwear factory in the province of Ferrara. Her diverse experience in the fashion industry was instrumental in shaping her comprehensive approach to work.

1980s

Maria sets up a workshop in the garage of her home, called “Laboratorio confezioni MERI”. In just three years, the workshop expands to a workforce of five, which requires a move to a larger location on the outskirts of the city. In the mid-1980s, the workshop employs 15 seamstresses and specializes in women’s and children’s clothing.

1990s

“Confezioni Mary snc” is founded by Maria and her husband Maurizio, later known as “Mary Fashion S.p.A.” The company began to work with well-known brands of women’s clothing, corsetry, underwear and costumes. When their children, Emanuela and Davide, joined the company, a new phase of growth began: the company consolidated itself as a leading manufacturer for prestigious Italian and international designer labels.

2000

The construction of a new factory of over 2,000 square meters begins, where Mary Fashion moves to in 2002.

2007

A new factory is opened with a warehouse and fabric cutting process.

2012

In order to keep up with market trends, the company makes a strategic decision to adopt a more flexible approach to production, extending its expertise to a wider range of fabrics, styles, production processes and treatments.

2019

The company implements the various sustainability and occupational safety initiatives it has launched in recent years. Following a major energy requalification of the plant, the company obtains ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications.

2021

The company continues its journey with the implementation of ESG initiatives and the achievement of GOTS certification.

2022

The cutting of printed fabrics is automated by installing state-of-the-art cutting technology equipped with a machine vision system.
